Jesse, aka Smi77y

Hello and thank you for checking out what we have to offer! My name is Jesse, aka Smi77y all across the web (except for xbox live, ’cause some punk has my username). I grew up playing Magic as a teenager, but never too serious. 10 years have gone by and here I am again. But, with aspirations to be a part of the national Magic community and the ultimate goal of being a pro player. I began back in June 2009, exponentially building up my standard collection. Which eventually led to Magic the Gathering Online membership too. I play weekly, and think about magic daily. I am a good player, and our community in Southern Oregon has some great players. Even a level 4 pro. I’m nearing the 1800 DCI ranking solely from FNM’s and pre-release events, top 8ing the WWK and ROE pre-releases with 60+ people. But my credentials shall grow, at least that’s the plan.

I love Magic and this is my release for sharing thoughts on anything Magic. Welcome to 60cards.com!

MrScottyMac

Hello there! Thanks for stopping in to visit 60cards.com. My name is Scott MacCallum, although I am more commonly known in the community as MrScottyMac on twitter and just about everywhere. I have been playing Magic on and off since a friend got my brother and I hooked way back in the days of Revised Edition. My most recent re-entry to the game came in towards the end of Time Spiral block, at the advent of Lorwyn. That story involves a last minute remark by a newer friend at the time, whilst surrounded by some of my old high school crew; “Hey, do you guys remember Magic? I could really go a game of that right now…” The last minute pile into the car and frantic search for a retailer that was open at 930 on a Sunday night is one I wont soon forget, I can tell you. I have since been heavily invested in my collection efforts, as I really hate wanting to make a deck and not having the cards on hand. The extent of my professional aspirations as a youth culminated in a PTQ attempt back in the Alliances days. Myself, and a few others received sponsorship from our local store, and equipped with a GW MaroGeddon Deck, I proceeded to get my first taste of competitive Magic; and it was sweet. I am a control player at heart, as ever since the idea of card parity was introduced back in the necro days, it has become apparent to me that this is a game that rewards the intelligent. This game, like many strategic games before it, rewards the players who can demonstrate perceptive understanding, strategic evaluation, and calculated yet flexible executions. I love to play EDH, and host regular games weekly at my house on Tuesdays. My next goal is to try to get an EDH league going, but it has beendifficult to find those that understand the line between competitive and appropriately social competiton. A line until very recently I myself have had difficulty towing. I generally love Standard as my format of daily choice, and regular FNMs keep this a regular option for me. I have been very fortunate to have met some amazing friends while playing this game. The guys from Yo! MTG Taps have been without peer.  If you dont listen to their podcast, you should, as it is the solitary reason for my current involvement in the community and the game. It is available here on 60cards.com every week, and you may just hear me on it from time to time.  Big thanks and much love to the following guys (and girls) as my most beloved inspirations: Kelly Reid, Thomas Dodd, Jonathan Medina, Gavin Verhey, The Joes, Lauren Lee, and the hardcore pros: Michael J. Flores, Patrick Chapin, Billy Moreno, and Conley Woods.

I am really looking froward to writing for 60cards.com, and am honored to have found a place to post my ramblings and mad brews. It is nice to be a part of such good company. Thanks for reading!!

Andrew Smith

Hey, thanks for checking out 60cards.com! I am the chief designer and developer of this beast we call 60cards. I am a designer & developer by day and a MTG player by night. I have been gathering my magic cards since the days of revised, minus a hiatus or two. I am strongly against the use of control decks in magic. Playing control is a disease of the mind and it must be purged by which ever aggro deck I’m currently playing.

Stay tuned to 60cards, your MTG source, for tons of amazing articles, videos, podcasts & upcoming surprises!

David Mantel

I’m David Mantel. I’m the resident member grammar police-that means I’m editing articles, if you need me to point out the obvious. I write some too and might write here if I can think of something Magic related to write about. Eventually I’ll have a book that I can tell you to go buy but not yet. I play a lot of magic (which gets in the way of writing a book incidentally) so even though I only started about the time Conflux came out I’m not completely horrible at it. Feel free to bother me on twitter. I’m Writer1007. Yell at me if you see a grammar mistake in an article. I might seppuku….but probably not.
